Welcome to the Forta Leza Country Inn - a classic Kiwi pub.

You'll feel right at home here, in a pub and restaurant with the sort of easy-going, homely ambience that survives in provincial New Zealand.

The Forta Leza occupies an imposing former cheese and butter factory, the 1901 Katikati Dairy Co-op Building. And the historic character rolls on inside the inn, with its woody, wagon wheels & saddles, deer-antlers decor.

The Forta Leza features two large dining areas, and an a la carte menu with all your favourites - chicken, beef, lamb, seafood, venison - and vegetarian meals. The restaurant is also known for its range of tempting steak meals and blackboard specials, and there's a children's menu.

There are few more pleasant places to while away a few hours than the Forta Leza - with its gaming rooms, a pool table and a cheery fire for cold nights. There's a large screen TV of course, to catch the big games. In summer, the garden bar is the place to be.

Forta Leza packs a surprise too -upstairs is an extraordinary doll collection, the work of Jan McLean one of the world's top makers of porcelain collectors dolls. There are some 200 gorgeous and highly collectable dolls on display, all posed in different settings such as 'off to the opera.'

This country inn just 20 minutes drive from Tauranga, makes for a perfect break from the highway, with plenty of parking off the road. Call in for anything from a snack and drink, to lunch or dinner. Or drive out of the city for some old-fashioned country hospitality and dining.
