‘The Mount’ - a narrow peninsula with the harbour on one side and ocean beach on the other - has been a Kiwi holiday destination for decades. It has been described as the region’s mecca for apartments, and offers plenty of choice. The suburban home still exists at Mount Maunganui, and is relatively affordable, as long as you are a few streets back from the beach. Prices soar for anything with a sea view.
