Bank Hours
Normally Mon 9am—4.30pm. Several banks in downtown Tauranga and Mount Maunganui have 24-hour automatic teller machines. In Tauranga these are at the ASB in Devonport Road, BNZ in Willow Street, and National Bank in Grey Street.
Need bureaux de change? We suggest you try the Tauranga or Mount Travelex, normally open Saturday mornings (63 Devonport Road & 165 Maunganui Road). Most banks offer exchange at competitive rates. Getting money changed at weekends can be a challenge —we suggest you try the Tauranga Travelex (tel 578-9253).
Some duty free shopping can be found at local stores including Carters Photographics (31 Devonport Road) and David Peet Jewellers, (Wharf Street) in Tauranga. In some cases they simply deduct the GST (sales tax) off the purchase price of goods being posted overseas.
