Port of Tauranga Half Ironman Billed as the country's premier half iron man event, it attracts top New Zealand and overseas entrants. It starts from Salisbury Wharf, Mount Maunganui: a 2km swim in Pilot Bay, 90km bike ride, and 21km run that includes the base track of Mauao. Great event for spectators. Mount Pacific Downwind New Zealand’s answer to the great Molokai Challenge in Hawaii. Busking Festival – Labour Weekend Come Downtown the Mount this Labour Weekend for the annual Bay News/Bay of Plenty Times Busking Festival. On Saturday 23rd October, between 11am and 12.30pm the junior competitors (under 16’s) will try and “wow” the judges, and also get the option of entering the Sunday Open section too. On Sunday, between 11am and 1.30pm the Open section competitors will be displaying their talents to try and win the hearts of the judges. There’s a total prize pool of $3,000! The Public will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite performer, and also go in the draw to win a $50 Mainstreet voucher! The 2010 TrustPower Christmas Festival and Santa Parade is on Sunday 28th of November. Lots of free entertainment and fun starts at 11am. The Float Parade begins from Rata Street at midday, and there’s plenty more family fun and activities until 2pm. Come and enjoy street performers, dance groups, live music, bouncy castles and the Farmers Market! So much to see and do!
Use the free Park N Ride bus from Kereiti Street, just off Hewletts Road by SuperCheap. Three shuttles will run every 15 minutes from 10am until 3pm so there’s no need to worry about parking. Unique event based at the Mount Maunganui Surf Club, combining surf, sun, sand and fun - suitable for everyone from ‘entry level' to competitive triathletes, individuals and teams. This is the longest running triathlon in Tauranga and a great idea for burning off your Christmas and Boxing day feasts. Late December.
