Tauranga Walks

The Western Bay of Plenty offers walking tracks aplenty, with more than 1000 kilometres of walkways around the Mount, Tauranga and Papamoa alone. The best way to explore them is to pick up the free Tauranga Walkways booklet, available free from visitor centres, and Tauranga City Council offices (tel 577-7000).

The booklet lists 15 walkways – including parks and reserves, coastal walks, saltmarshes and wetlands. It begins with the district’s best known walks around and over 232 metre Mt Maunganui, Mauao, and ends with the Bethlehem Wetlands. It includes downtown Tauranga’s ‘historic inner city.’ The booklet has easy-to-read maps, distance and time guides, and highlights points of interest.
