A superbly located backpackers in downtown Mount Maunganui. Close to pubs & shops, and three minutes walk from local beaches.
This recently upgraded, friendly hostel easily spotted by its big surfing mural, has room for 27 folk, in well-kept rooms with high ceilings and lots of windows.
Dorm beds cost from $24 a night, and double rooms from $64. Seasonal work arranged (winter weekly rates available), and sound advice offered on local activities at a 'travel and activity' desk.
The hostel has a laundry, cosy TV area, sundecks and its own Internet cafe. If you're thirsty, the nearest bar is in the Astrolabe across the road.
