This outlet of the Mount Surfshop incorporates an awesome collection of classic surfboards, most on a lower floor. The co-owner, surfer businessman Dusty Waddell has the best and biggest collection of surfboards in Australasia.
The shop museum shows the different eras of New Zealand surfing, from longboards through single fins, and twin-fins to the thrusters (three-fin) surfboards of more modern times. The lineup includes many well-known 60’s Kiwi icons like Quane and Atlas Woods, as well as rare kneeboards and paddleboards. A must-see for surfers and students of the evolution of Kiwi beach culture.
