An authentic colonial village atmosphere, created with the help of a large collection of superbly restored buildings, paved streets and historic displays. It also has a handful of eclectic shops such as Leadlight Expressions, which stocks giftware such as glass flowers and art deco lamps.
The Village’s Wood Museum provides a glimpse into early saw-milling and wood-working, and displays samples of all New Zealand’s native timbers, petrifed woods, and kauri gum. Woodcraft souvenirs include unique bottles made from old fence posts, and wooden spinning tops.
