Already the home of local speedway and first division rugby, this stadium is a leading multi-purpose venue for big events – including major rock concerts. The stadium was bankrolled by well known local developer ‘Bob the Builder’ Clarkson.
The stadium’s already successfully hosted top rock acts like the Beach Boys, CCR and Chicago as well as major rugby clashes. The stadium can happily handle crowds of more than 18,000 with plenty of parking available. Speedway roars into life at the stadium’s track – the ‘Oval by the Ocean’.
Twenty race meetings are held between Labour Weekend and Easter. The 470-metre speedway track is one of the best in the country, with raised stands to seat 17,500 and 3,500 car parks. You’ll see stock cars, sprint cars, saloons and mini-stocks (speedy youngsters) and more. Tauranga’s Mayor Stuart Crosby and a local councillor are among the keen racers.
