Marine Park to Boost Economy
A new multi million dollar marine park in Tauranga will initially create more than 500 jobs. Economic development agency Priority One hopes the planned precinct will eventually attract super yacht builders with orders from around the world. Business development manager Richard Kinzett says research shows the precinct will also inject 100 million into the economy every year. Pictured: Sulphur Point

Last Day to Have Your Say
Today's the final day for Western Bay of Plenty residents to have their say about the future of the region. It's the last day of consultation for the council's draft annual plan. A council spokesman says earlier in the week, there'd been just 55 submissions made. However, he says that number usually picks up in the last couple of days.

Ice Cream Battles Chemo Side Effects
A new strawberry ice cream has been developed to stop the nasty side effects of chemotherapy. The ice cream, called 'ReCharge,' is currently on trial at Tauranga Hospital. It reduces the effect of patient diarrhoea - a common side effect of chemo and can prevent low blood cells. Clinical trials research manager Rana Reuther says a number of hospitals around the country are trialling the product and hope to get 200 patients tasting the ice cream. Ms Reuther says the ice cream's so tasty, she could easily eat the required 100 grams a day. Archive Photo
