Moturiki Island is a small bay to the south of Main Beach is bounded on one side by the island (attached to the mainland by a sandy walkway) and a rocky outcrop at the other. It is a popular family swimming spot and not really sharky, in spite of the local label.
Mount Drury across the road from the beach has shady trees and public toilets. You can’t gather mussels off the rocks here because a rahui, or ban, is in place.
