About Tauranga Library

With over 330,000 titles you'll never run out of things to read. The Tauranga Library offers the standard library card system where you can borrow books for up to 3 weeks. Individuals can borrow up to 40 books at a time (a real handful) and you can even borrow music CD's for a small charge.

The Library operates a comprehensive borrowing system where you can check your borrowings and due dates online.  If you have a current library card simply contact the library and they will set up your online account. The online account is great as you can even set up an alert to email 3 days before your titles are due back.

The Tauranga Public Library network includes several smaller libraries including Greerton Library, the Mount Library, and Papamoa Library. As well as the 4 physical libraries there is also a mobile library. Please check the timetable to see when the mobile library will be in your area. The 'book bus' operates on a two-week cycle of Tauranga and its suburbs.

Library Catalogues and Archives

The public library is a real treasure trove of knowledge and information. If you are looking for reference information in a particular area then try their databases system. You can find specific information in Medical, Science, Art and Music and lots of other areas.

Tauranga District Library also has a large historical collection of local and New Zealand photographs and other historical documents. If you are looking to learn about local history then you'll find the photos archive a great resource. It's even fun just browsing the images online to see how life used to be in the Bay of Plenty! And of course the standard library catalogue can be searched here.
